I am happy to report that the osprey family is doing just fine. Papa is bringing in more sticks or branches to create a barrier for the little ones. The female continues to tidy up the nest and cover her chicks to provide warmth.

I thought a couple of days ago that there were many more pine cones and sticks on the nest, and I wondered why at this point they would be building up the nest. Now I know this makes a barrier for the chicks. How smart can that be? Just wonderful to see how things work. I haven't seen the chicks yet this morning, but will be watching all day.
Yes, the chicks are fine. Around 11:15am the male brought in a flounder which the chicks quickly gobbled up and fell asleep with full bellies. With the chicks resting the female took the time to preen herself close to the camera.
4/22/09 - 2:10pm Looks like feeding time!!! Mom & Dad are both are the nest right now. As long as Dad keeps the food coming then there should not be so much aggression.

Thanks as always for the update! Was quite worried!
All 3 chicks visible...but just barely. Mother has them practically buried in the nest. For warmth, camouflage and protection, I am assuming.

What a way to start a morning--nice close up of the three chicks! Thanks. Looks like good weather for the feathered family today.
