How exciting! I can't see the little one yet, but it will be fun watching things develop. What is the expected date of the next arrival?

Vivian
This is great.. !! Congrats>>
Does she start feeding that chick now or is she waiting for the male to return and the other eggs to hatch?
Normally the male provides the fish for the female and chick(s).
This is so cool - my son's going to love it! Terrific images in the gallery....
Welcome GJ!
Linda
Amazing - at a little after 3:00 - the male was there when I logged on, I think he may have brought food because it looked like the female was feeding the chick - SO Cool!
Linda
So great to see the new chick. Awaiting to see it fed for the first time.

Great Shots of GJ a minute ago.. cant wait to see her feed him/her..GJ looked hungry :)
A very special day for the Hilton Head Nest. Thank you, everyone behind the cam, great job!!!
Linda
It seems like the male stands by but doesn't cover the chick and eggs when the female leaves the nest. Is this normal?
Vivian
The parenting roles usually consist of the male providing fish back to the nest while the female protects the eggs/chicks.
It does seem the male does not know what to make of the new addition to the family.
I haven't seem them feed the chick yet.. should we be concerned? Yes I am watching this all day while I am at work but it is so worth it.
Oh, what fun! I just watched mama osprey feed GJ and then tuck him under her. It looked like she was really working to get things in place, or was GJ just not ready to be tucked in?
The new pictures of GJ in the gallery are really wonderful. Thanks!!
Vivian
I am glad GJ has sunshine on his/her first day. Thanks to all of the folks at Palmetto Electric for sharing the event. Judy
This is just so so exciting for this nest. To have a chick finally!!!
