The new pictures are wonderful. Actually, all of the pictures in the gallery are beautiful, and tell a lovely story. Looking through it this morning, I wonder if any of the pictures might show something about DS that would have contributed to his death.

I'll be watching this morning to see when the camera is running again after yesterday's storm.

Thanks Vivian. Not sure if we will ever know what happened to DS. We are attempting to get our camera back up and running. We had a storm pass through just before 8 pm last night. Hopefully it won't be too much longer.

Ditto........what WONDERFUL pictures. Looking on web cam I never was able to see quite that close so got to experience it all again in detail. It was sad to see the pictures with the 3 chicks. Would be nice to use some in your monthly publication and like somebody mentioned previously, pick a few good ones and sell to get the $$$ for new camera. It would be nice to have a "live" one like Scotland has.

Thanks to all the cam operators and the photogs

No need to publish this comment, but was wondering if those of you at Palmetto Electric would be able to join us if we plan a little afternoon celebration? I don't know how to contact you other than a phone call. Several bloggers wrote they would like to get together and have a chance to meet all of you who have managed the cam these last months.

Hey Toni,

Sorry we haven't gotten back to you guys concerning the afternoon gathering. You can either blog when you would like to get together or call me at 843-208-5516.

Thanks so much for getting back to me, Moderator. A question for Vivian -- when are you in town so you can celebrate with us? Also, I was thinking about the next week or two and am open to suggestions as to where we could all meet.

Also, just saw both "chicks" back on the nest -- probably waiting for some food!

I can be in Hilton Head anytime between June 24 and July 2. I would drive down on Tuesday, 23rd, so could join the group from the 24th on. This is a great idea, Toni. Thanks for thinking of it. If it works out better to meet after MG gets back on July 19, I'm pretty much open.

Since this past March I have been observing the wonderful adventures of the Palmetto Electric Hilton Head osprey nest as well as the moderator and blogger comments. I am so impressed with our webcam and website coverage. For me, it is the best osprey website.

Such joy to spend this spring and summer, checking in every morning, catching the ospreys' daily rountine and saying "good night". I especially enjoy the fabulous photo gallery. Surely will miss it all - til next spring!!!!

Thank you ever so much!

Hey, please don't leave me out, Toni and Anonymous! If there's gonna be a gathering I surely would like to be included. I personally feel that our Moderator should be invited as our guest! I live off island in Bluffton so I'm just minutes away. PLEASE keep me posted.

Please be sure to report back all about your get-together so folks who live in the far north (to y'all, that is...LOL) and can't attend will feel somewhat included! Wish I could be there, but will be in spirit.

Thanks -

Mary

I totally agree that the moderator should be our guest and also the other two folks whose initials belong to the chicks. How about the 25th or the 30th? I was thinking about Il Carpaccio in Pineland Mall or someplace close to PE. I was also thinking early evening for a glass of wine rather than lunch because the PE folks might have to get back to work.

It would be super if all of us who live in the area and those who can get here could join the group.
My phone number is 843-837-9022 and I live here.
If anyone has any other suggestions, that is great.
I am really looking forward to meeting all of you. Carol, of course we want you there!

Have read that osprey are attracted to the color blue. The proof of the pudding is now in the Woods Hole nest. Several interesting objects, all blue. Check it out, if you wish.

Or am I seeing distortion? MG Moderator - what do you think?

i don't want to be left out either..for identity purposesi'm the one that suggested selling the pics..this has been a great experience..kudos to palmetto electric and its employees who moderated and made it possible

I can make either Thursday, the 25th, or Tuesday, the 30th, whichever date is suitable for everyone--hopefully one of those dates will accommodate everyone. Il Carpaccio, sounds great. Should I wear a red carnation in my lapel? :o)

I've been watching the Woods Hole cam since someone (Realist?) on this blog gave the information. The objects in the nest look like pieces of rope and a plastic bag, but to me they look sort of green. It's difficult to tell because the picture is blurry, but this morning there is something else there that might be a piece of rope, and it looks blue. Watching the last couple of days has had me worried that one of the chicks will get tangled up in that stuff because it's lying more in the middle than around the edge of the nest. Mama seems to work on it occasionally.

It's nice to be able to compare how much "our" chicks have developed to the Wood Hole chicks, who hatched quite a bit later.

One other possibility for meeting is Reilly's across from Sam's Club. It is the opposite corner from Sam's. Let's try for the 25th. I wonder if they open around 4pm? I can wear a sign that says "Osprey Friends". I would suggest Reilly's because it opens earlier, I think. I will confirm time and place after hearing from everyone.

Reilly's at Port Royal Plaza, where Sam's is located, is a good place. It's directly behind our office where the osprey web cam is located. June 25th, Thursday, at 4pm is fine.
