Well, this is exciting. From the two pictures, it looks like more material has been brought to the site. Maybe it was already there and this is a different angle. In any case, it is nice to see some osprey activity. Hope it continues.

Vivian,

I was viewing the osprey cam when all of a sudden tail feathers popped into view so a turned the camera to get a better view. The nest material in the photos is left over from previous seasons.

I took a photo of the nest on January 11, 2011, to capture what nesting material was currently there so I could compare it to later views...to see if any had been added. So far no additional nesting objects have been added to the platform.

And I was so hoping this one was a real worker and we'd see some good progress soon. We'll keep watching!

Hi,

I'm looking for anest that is not a handyman special.

Sorry,

To The Osprey: You'd better take this one. You will have to fight a feathered friend for a nest that is ready to move into. And you will have lots of folks cheering for you if you take this one!

Brought my Valentine to see if this platform might be satisfactory for a nest.

Wonder if these are Bella and Benetio?

Looks like we have some activity this Tuesday morning. Maybe Valentine's Day got them started for good?! Let's hope so.

Dear Moderator:

It looks like more material is being brought to the nest (although I have not seen the osprey since this morning). How much of the space has been filled in so far?

Good afternoon Vivian,

The nesting material is left over from previous seasons. We haven't noticed much if any additional items on the platform. This morning I did see one of the osprey's moving small sticks around the nest. I didn't see if the osprey brought it to the nest or not.

Well, that is a little disappointing. Thought for sure we had some good activity today. Well, we keep watching and hoping!

7.40am Wed ... and she's not on the nest but on the tall electrical post to the left - perhaps she's not yet convinced this is THE best place to be. Or perhaps she's waiting for the male to arrive?
Has he been spotted yet?

Hey DB,

A male and female were on the nest together yesterday morning. I'll try and post another entry this morning with their picture.

Well that's a great start ... now let's keep our fingers crossed that there will not be a repetition of last year. If these two start bringing nesting material assume that means they "stake" a claim to the nest!!?

Have you been able to determine whether it is the last two who were on the nest last year?

I did not look at the photos in detail yet. If I get an opportunity today I'll compare the recent pictures that we've taken to the photos from previous seasons.

While taking pictures yesterday the female resembled last year's female osprey that stayed on the nest, but I'm not sure since I've yet to do any comparasions.

Moderator,
Any hope of getting more of the nest in view this season?
I for one am looking forward to a great nesting season. It would be nice if was Bella and Benetio.
I have yet to see one of them on the nest but am hoping to soon.
Lots of action on several eagles nests.

Good morning Mary Pat,

The camera views will be the same for the 2011 osprey season. We are still evaluating new equipment and are trying to find a cost effective approach to upgrading the osprey web cam.
