With the two chicks maturing at a fast clip, you can see the differences in MKD's crop compared to TE's. The crop stores food for later digestion.

MKD has definitely established dominance over its sibling by pecking at TE and nudging him/her out of the way at feeding time. This mornig MKD was even pecking at Bea while she was attempting to feed him/her...probably not a good idea.

Definitely not a good idea to peck mama while she is providing food! But then maybe she will pass over little MKD and give more to TE for awhile. ;o)

6:24 to 6:28 etc.

Looks as if she is working on another pine cone, and maybe feeding the chicks from the mashed up seeds?

Her right foot appears to be holding down the pine cone.

Hey Lynne,

I plan on posting photos on Thursday showing the size difference of the chicks since today and tomorrow will be 2 weeks since they hatched.

Sounds like the conflict between chicks may be escalating from insufficient fish being brought in by the male.

Jasper has been bringing in many fish during the day and both chicks are quite plump from their feedings. We've seen many times when Bea has attempted to feed both chicks and neither will take a bite due to them being full. I believe MKD is just proving it is the dominant chick.

Looks like our little chicks had a good day and mama is covering them up for the night.
