Just read the blog on the Loch of the Lowes. Amazing to say the least. You have to wonder if it really is the same female. There might have been an unknown switch many years back.

Hi Carol...I am sure the staff at LoL have documented each year, making sure that this is the same female. She's a grand and remarkable lady.
It is good to see her again at the Loch. Wish 7Y made it back, tho' but the new male is doing a great job at incubating. Hopefully he will be up to bringing in fish when the chicks arrive.

Looking forward to the hatch at Hilton :-))

One thing about the Loch of the Lowes lady osprey--it is easy to tell that she has many years on her. But she appears to be strong and able to care for the nest and lay three eggs!! Let's hope that all three chicks are OK and that mom and the new dad can care for them successfully. I love to read the daily summaries of the nest activity. And it is wonderful that there is a person outside (in the shadows) watching all night to make sure that the nest is safe.

I didn't see it happen, but the camera is stopped for the night with the two osprey looking at the three eggs with a big stick laying across them! I hope it got moved quickly with no damage to the eggs.

Things are looking good this morning. Our pair is doing a great job getting the nest ready for the chicks. And the big stick from last night is no longer on top of the eggs.
