It appears that GV is intimdating RJ when fish is brought to the nest and is blocking RJ's attempts to eat. Bea feeds GV first and if allowed, RJ will get an opportunity to eat. GV is a bit larger than RJ at this point and RJ needs to make the most of the available fish. Luckily, the fish that Jasper is bringing are large enough to feed all of them. It's not a matter of a lack of fish, it's just the GV is aggressive and showing authority of RJ.

Will GV continue to intimidate even when he has had enough to eat?

GV may taper off with the intimidation - time will tell. This morning GV would rise above RJ as well as block RJ from Bea so he/she could not eat at the same time GV ate. This is a recent action that we noticed GV doing so we're not sure how long it may last.

4:30 PM, and this behavior is continuing with a new fish on the nest. RJ has turned away from the action and appears to have given up. Not fun to watch.

The camera has been down all day since I checked it early this morning. Will it be fixed today? I miss seeing the nest activity.

Vivian,

Thanks for letting us know. We didn't realize it was down for the public. Hopefully we'll have it back up soon. 8-)

The camera came back but is frozen (not refreshing) right now.

Curious if you have noticed GV being aggressive still. Thanks

Will check the camera again.

Yes, GV is still being aggressive towards RJ. Noticed that GV was standing over with its wings spread a little and also pecking at RJ's head. GV is becoming a bully.

Just check the camera and it's working fine. Not sure what is going on, but it is working now.

The site for your live webcam is down entirely, which I assume you know. Maybe your bandwith or ISP CPU usage limit was exceeded in May?

Have a good long weekend.

Peter,

The site is up and running. We are our own ISP so bandwidth is not a problem. Could be where you are located is having issues?

Right you are. Seems if my Mac Firefox bookmark had gone bad, even thought the URL was exactly the same. Weird.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I was surprised to see that the url for the webcam has changed. Went all day yesterday thinking something on your end needed to be repaired. Finally did some checking on google and see that the old url I had bookmarked (www.palelec.com) has been changed to (www.palmetto.coop/). I hope others who are searching are able to find this blog and read this message. Is there another way to get the word out?

BTW, both chicks seem to be doing well and each holding his own.
