It appears RJ finally fledged sometime on Sunday. He/she was on the nest Sunday morning, but as of Sunday afternoon RJ was not there. GV is the only osprey on the nest as of 7:03 a.m. this morning.  RJ is probably happily eating all the fish it can without having to compete against GV.

Thanks for the update. You are so good at telling them apart. I'd be thinking this was still little RJ.

Thanks for the good news about RJ fledging yesterday. It is 9:30 now, and I guess that is GV still on the nest--looking very majestic. It's sad to think the season is almost over, but I hope we get to see both birds on the nest a few more times before they make their trip south.

Hey Gina,

GV has more white on the side of its head and RJ has more dark streaks.

GV (I think) looks lonesome. Any sightings of RJ or Bea and Jasper?

Gina,

Bea and Jasper were both on the nest this morning at the same time and Bea another two times. I agree GV does look a bit lonesome.

We haven't seen RJ at all today. Could be hanging out nearby. RJ is probably tired of being last to eat and pecked on by GV and is staying away.

Any recent sitings of RJ?

We haven't seen him on the platform since Sunday.

Has GV left the platform since Sunday?

Do we have reason for concern? How is he being fed?

It's RJ that hasn't been on the platform since Sunday afternoon. No need for alarm, Jasper and Bea have been on the nest only about three times since Sunday themselves.

RJ has been spotted nearby and is most likely being fed by its parents away from GV. You can't blame RJ since there was much aggression shown towards it by GV.

Both juveniles will rely on fish from their parents until they learn to fish for themselves.

Glad to hear RJ has been seen. Can't help but be extra concerned for them these first few day in the "real" world. They will figure it out from there.

Both are doing fine and are being fed by their parents. GV is busy chasing away an adult osprey that has been approaching the nest as well as flying about stretching its wings.

It probably won't be long until the entire family leaves the nesting area.

I wish the whole family Godspeed on their long journey. And I do hope that Bea and Jasper will favor us for their next nesting.
Happy rest of the year to all my nesterlings and a very special THANK YOU to our moderator. Again, you have done an awesome job keeping us all abreast of nest happenings.
All the best, Carol
