Yes, it appears that we lost the 4th & 5th eggs. Bea and Jasper never built up the interior base of the nest except with Spanish Moss. With Bea and Jasper incubating the eggs with no base of twigs, limbs, etc. to keep the nest together the eggs eventually they fell through the nest.

Bummer! It's so hard to wait so many months and then have a failure. I guess it's too late for them to try again. It sure would be nice if a base could be put on top of that wire fencing.

?Bummer!!!! :(
If you love nature, it might be in the plan of things for Bea & Jasper to fail this year. Human intervention may not be wise.
could the wire base be changed to a solid one next year to prevent the egg(s) from dropping.
I've seen them used at other nest sites.
So sorry to read about the loss of the 4th and 5th eggs.Thank you for the update.
I agree with birdgirl about using a solid base of the nest rather than the wired one. I have seen other successful nests using solid platforms
Thank you for the update. So sorry to hear about the loss of the eggs. Poor Bea and Jasper...
I'd like to reply to the March 12 comment by Anonymous: It was human intervention that created this nest area and it will take human intervention to provide a better one. It would be an easy fix.

Hi
are there plans to change the platform to a more suitable one so that the eggs will be prevented from slipping through the wire?
Would donations be of help to offset the cost?
